  Goethe's Home, the Goethe Museum and Goethe's Garden House are some of most important testaments to classical Weimar. For almost 50 years, the poet and philosopher lived in the Baroque house on "Frauenplan" which he had designed and built to his specifications.

  The Hoftheater was founded by Duke Carl August and today hosts a broad repertoire in the areas of opera, theatre and dance. The Deutsches Nationaltheater (German National Theater) and the Staatskappelle Weimar (Weimar State Orchestra) hold around 600 performances a year. More info
